Meet Mel McCray

I'm Mel McCray — a mother, teaching artist, and full-spectrum doula devoted to supporting women through every stage of their journey.
As a first-generation mother to experience an unmedicated birth and breastfeeding, my passion comes from lived experience — not just training. I've developed a deep commitment to helping women tap into their own power through knowledge, support, and intentional care.
I trained at Jamaa Birth Village, and my work is rooted in supporting and uplifting BIPOC families through fertility, birth, postpartum, wellness, and every transition in between.
My background in cultural dance and yoga shapes everything I do — creating space for both movement and stillness as a way for women to reconnect to their womb, their body, and themselves.
My journey is also personal. I've taken intentional steps in my own womb healing — learning my cycle, tending to past experiences, and nurturing my reproductive health through herbs and holistic practices. This path continues to shape how I show up for women with care, innerstanding, and lived experience.
Through my work with She Is Whole, I also focus on bridging generational gaps — educating young girls on self-love, self-worth, and womb wellness so they can grow into their wholeness with confidence and awareness.
When I'm not serving families, I enjoy spending time with my family, loving on my son, cooking nourishing meals, journaling, and taking nature walks.

My Approach
My work is rooted in presence, intention, and deep respect for the body's natural wisdom. I believe healing is not something we force — it is something we remember. Every woman already holds what she needs within her. My role is to create a safe space for that connection to return.
Dance, Connection & Healing
Movement is at the heart of my practice. Through cultural dance and embodied practices, I help women reconnect to their bodies and find joy in the journey.
You are not empty. You are not broken. You are a vessel of creation. You are a vessel of healing.
